New Rheem-Ruud Tankless Water Heater Built Specifically for Commercial Applications

July 1, 2005 | Montgomery, AL --Rheem Water Heaters has introduced an on-demand tankless gas water heater engineered specifically for high-volume commercial applications, such as restaurants, hotels, schools, laundromats, and multi-family housing.

The new RHEEM-RUUD COMMERCIAL TANKLESS GAS WATER HEATER delivers hot water at various precise temperature set points up to 180°F to meet the unique requirements of commercial water heating applications. As many as 20 commercial tankless units can be connected in a manifold-type configuration to handle larger hot-water applications. A single waterproof manifold controller governs the entire bank of water heaters, providing a constant flow of hot water without temperature fluctuations and in an energy-efficient manner.
The building owner or manager simply sets the water temperature at the remote control provided, and the units will deliver water at the desired temperature for as long as needed. All of these features are packed into a unit with the same space-saving dimensions (25-3/8 inches x 14-7/8 inches x 11-1/8 inches) and light weight (55 pounds) as the Pronto! – Rheem’s residential tankless unit.
The new Rheem-Ruud commercial tankless unit carries a three-year warranty against heat exchanger leaks. “Many manufacturers promote their residential tankless models for commercial applications, with the only difference being a reduced warranty,” says Rheem Specialty Product Manager Jim Connors. “Rheem has instead chosen to design a tankless unit specifically for the commercial market, able to provide a continuous supply of hot water at the higher temperatures and greater demands these heavy-duty applications so often require.”

As with all Rheem tankless water heaters, the new commercial unit has no standing pilot light and no storage tank. It delivers a continuous supply of hot water whenever and wherever it is needed, but only when there is an actual demand. As a result, there’s no need to maintain a large and constant supply of pre-heated water, conserving energy and saving fuel costs.
UP TO 7.4 GPM: The new Rheem-Ruud Commercial Tankless Water Heater is available in indoor and outdoor models and for use with natural or LP gas. With a BTU/hour input range of 19,000 to 199,900, these fully modulated units are designed to use only as much fuel as needed to meet the hot water demand, maintaining a thermal efficiency rating of over 80%. Flow rates range from 3.3 gallons per minute at a 100°F temperature rise to 7.4 gpm at a 45°F rise.
A number of other features, exclusive to Rheem-Ruud tankless water heaters, are intended to bring peace of mind to the professionals who design and install hot water-delivery systems, as well as to those who use them:
• Extensive manifold capability: Up to 20 of these new commercial tankless units can be linked together in a manifold-style configuration to meet the hot-water needs of larger commercial applications. Rheem-Ruud is the only manufacturer to offer this critical capability. (For an illustration of the manifold hookup, see the first Web link listed on the following page.)      More on next page…
• Exclusive film wrap instantly detects overheating in the heat exchanger and shuts down the unit if it identifies an unsafe temperature.
• Built-in electric freeze-protection heater guards the heat exchanger down to -30°F when ambient temperatures fall well below freezing.
• Exclusive Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) monitors oxygen, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide levels, turning off the fuel supply if inadequate combustion is detected.
• A self-diagnostic program will display maintenance and error codes for each water heater on the remote control, helping to make troubleshooting and servicing quicker and easier.
• Environmentally friendly: All Rheem-Ruud tankless water heaters meet SCAQMD Rule 1146 requirements for low-NOx emissions.
Because the new commercial tankless water heaters are part of the Rheem-Ruud line, accessories, stainless-steel vent components and parts will be readily available through Rheem and Ruud plumbing wholesaler-distributors, who will serve as the exclusive source for these products nationwide.
